Rita Brown
Rita has been involved in the amateur dramatic world for
many years - actually since the age of 4 in a WI play and
had to ask for “a pennyworth of bullseyes”! She
has been involved in local Youth Club plays, directing Scout
Gang Shows, appearing in plays such as “Pack of Lies”
(Barbara), “When We are Married” (Mrs Northrop)
and directing pantomimes with Peaslake Players. She joined
Ghosts in 1983, appearing in pantos, the world premiere of
“Blood“ as Mrs Barebones, “Return to the
Forbidden Planet” as the Navigator (Vera Noffcourse),
and then became Chairman of Ghosts for a few years. With Godalming
Theatre Group she played Mrs Peterson in “Bye Bye Birdie”,
Grandmother in “Billy Liar” and several pantos,
as well as being production assistant to Anne-Marie when she
directed Sondheim’s “Follies” for GTG. A
member of Merrow Dramatic Society, she co-directed “Breath
of Spring” for them, the first act of which went on
to win the Guildford Drama Festival last year.
Luckily she has a very patient and supportive husband, John,
who says he never quite knows which character he will be living
with next!
Jane Ellis
Jane has been a member of Ghosts for 12 years. During that
time she has been very happy to be in any chorus role going,
but is pleased that as the years have drawn on she has been
able to wear more clothes and do less dancing. She first met
Anne-Marie when they were both in the chorus of Princess Ida
in charge of real guns, since then almost every show that
they have both been involved in has involved either guns (in
the disguise of hair dryers in Forbidden Planet ) or a lack
of clothes (too numerous to mention) and is looking forward
to finding out what this show has to offer…!
Chris King
Chris has performed on stage for more years than she cares
to remember, but mostly as a tart or a nun, including memorably
a cross-dressing policeman in frilly knickers.
She has sung everything from Grand Opera (Aida, Turandot,
Faust) with Guildford Opera Company, to a brief spell as a
rock chick, via small principal roles in musicals and operettas
with New Gallery Players and Ghosts.
She is looking forward to going Into The Woods, as her friends
and family say she lives in a fantasy world most of the time
anyway.
Tim Sindall
Tim joined the Guildford Opera Company in 1980, and sang
with them in many operas and concerts that included "Carmen",
"Aida", "The Merry Widow" (where he appeared
in his one and only sub-principal role as a French baron),
"Cav & Pag", "Faust", "Orpheus",
"Turandot" and "Die Fledermaus".
Tim joined Ghosts to sing in the "Pirates of Penzance",
"Trial by Jury" and "The Zoo". More recently,
he sang in "Guys & Dolls", and "Treasure
Island" where he was the only chorus pirate to sport
a real beard! Tim occasionally sings with Cantamus Reigate
and with the choir of his local church in East Horsley.
Anne Stuart
Anne has been a member of Ghosts since 1994 and a Sondheim
fan for nearly as long, so is delighted that the two are finally
coming together! She's sure that the fairytale world of "Into
the Woods" will provide an oasis of sanity compared to
her day job of dealing with European law, and is looking forward
to spending time in a world were the logic is actually supposed
to be warped!
