Hazel’s
involvement in drama began in Cambridge where she was a founding
member of GROTS (Graduates Randomly Organised Theatre Society)
and also worked with Combined Actors and Kings College Music
Society, taking various roles - Modern dramas: The Hostage,
Oh What A Lovely War, The Crucible, The Hole, The Ruling Class,
and notably as Mrs Wickstead in Habeas Corpus; Outdoor productions:
Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, and Dekker’
Shoemaker’s Holiday singing Madrigals from a punt on
the river;
Revue and musical: Gone with Winklepicker, The Beggars Opera
She kept up her interest as an expatriate in China, taking
part in panto and singing in Welsh for the St David’s
Day choir.
Once family commitments allowed, she joined Ghosts and has
enjoyed taking minor roles in Canterbury Tales, 3 Musketeers,
Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens, and Treasure Island. She
also played a Land Rover in Simply the Best (!), and enjoys
learning more about music while singing in Choral Concerts.
