Cast and Crew

Rosie Hatton, Co-Director

Bored of life in London, Rosie packed up her then soon-to-be husband and household items in a removal truck and moved to Guildford in 2002. After dipping her toe into the local amateur dramatics waters with a couple of turns in Curtain Raisers’ “Showstoppers” in 2003, she dived headlong into the role of lesbian space-biker Chesty Prospects in Ghosts’ NODA award winning “Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens”. She has also been seen locally in less leather-clad roles in “Mack and Mabel”, “Guys and Dolls” and the Godalming Theatre Group production of “Jesus Christ Superstar”.

The performing bug struck Rosie at an early age. Her first role as “The Witch” in an infant school production of “Hansel and Gretel” lead to her becoming a stalwart member of the Cambridge Arts Theatre “Young Theatre Group.” They still talk about her magnificent parts in the fens. Not being one to hand in homework late, Rosie mastered the art of writing history essays at rehearsals, which gave rise to her infamous submission describing how the 1945 Yalta conference was actually attended by a Tin Man, a Cowardly Lion and a Scarecrow.

After University, and a move to London, she performed with The Camden Choir – “London’s Adventurous Choir.” They performed in locations such as St. John’s Smith Square, Hampstead Parish Church and The Barbican. For more informal performances, you could have sought her out as one of the lead singers in erstwhile covers bands “Guava Halves” and “Llama Jam”.

Musical theatre is her real pleasure, however, and co-directing “Into The Woods” for Ghosts marks Rosie’s first foray into directing a big production. It’s an enormous, complex, fantastic show and one she wouldn’t dream of attempting without the guiding hand of one of the Guildford area’s most talented and experienced directors, Anne-Marie Davies.
